Tommy Gibbons
Tommy Gibbons is an 18 year old extreme guitarist, singer, drummer, engineer, producer and bassist. He is a multiple award winning guitar soloist in jazz and rock and roll and runs his own school. When not teaching guitar, drums and bass at the KOMPOUND Music School, he also engineers his own music and other bands in his studio. He plays lead guitar and does lead vocals for his band he formed at 11 years old, KOAMA. His other music ventures are The Tommy Gibbons Band (rock and alt), Man Terror, an animated series with 3 episodes almost completed. They will be shopped to television. Tommy has won many awards, to include winner at age 14 of Arizona Guitarmageddon at Guitar Center, Runner up best in Western USA Guitarist at 14 yrs old in Dallas Texas. Winner at 13 years old Phoenix Guitarmagedon in store competition.
His Jazz awards are "best high school soloist" in Arizona (Louis Armstrong Award) 2007 and 2009. Tommy has toured in 16 states with KOAMA, headlined the Marquee theatre with KOAMA and opened for Kings X and Gary Hoey as a solo act. He has joined Chris Poland and his fusion band OHM on stage for a live jam session in a Hollywood Nite Club. He was the top story subject of a big Asian Magazine (Sportainment). The story was a 4 page full color spread titled “Who is Tommy Gibbons??? It explained his adoption by American parents while in KOREA and his choice to play guitar at only age 11.The story went on and they said he was, in their opinion, "the greatest Korean guitarist under 16 in the world." Tommy has been on TV in Arizona 3 times for guitar awards, in Japan and Korea once and in 6 newspaper and 3 magazine stories and articles.
He has been chosen to open for, or toured with the following bands as well. Prong, Deicide, Vital Remains, Testament, Into Eternity, UPO, Ohm, F5, Drowning Pool, Job for a Cowboy, and many more. At age 13 he received full endorsement from KranK Amps, Homebrew Electronics and KxK Guitars. He maintains them all still. He has appeared as special guest drummer, bassist, guitarist and vocalist on 12 CDs. His band KOAMA has 4 full length CDs done and The Tommy Gibbons Band has 2 full lengths done. He records and plays all the instruments on the Tommy Gibbons CDs and Man Terror and he engineered and produced them too. Tommy just graduated High School and has a music scholarship in Arizona, where he will attend. Goals: continue teaching, engineering and producing, finish college and hope to tour and support himself with music.
