If one could harness the creativity possed through insanity, one could rule the world. Through Harnessing comes control.
C-15 is insanity controlled.
Prerequisite
To use any of the Preampus amp line, you'll need the following:A VST cabinet modeler. We recommend AcmeBarGig's Cab Enhancer or LePou's LeCab
A SSE2 capable processor (Intel Pentium 4 or newer, AMD Opteron/Athlon 64 or newer).
A VST compatible host.
Installation
Copy the file "Preampus Metal C15.dll" into your VST plugin folder and start your DAW of choice. The VST folder is often "C:\Program Files\VstPlugins\" or "C:\Program Files\[Your DAW]\vstPlugins\". - if you cannot locate this folder, consult the documentation of your DAW.The VST is now in your VST Plugin folder and you should now be able to add this to an audio track of your choice
Remember: Add a cabinet modeling software after our heads.
Operation
C15 has the following controls:Gain: controls how much gain is added to the incoming sound. The gain at this stage is a simulation of a pre amplifier.
Volume: controls the input level.
Bass: controls the amount of low frequencies to add or subtract from the sound.
Mid: controls the amount of mid frequencies to add or subtract from the sound.
Treble: controls the amount of high frequencies to add or subtract from the sound.
Presence: controls the tonality character.
Master: controls the main output level.
To increase or decrease the level of any of these controls, simply turn it's corresponding knob!
Drive Amp
All our Preampus Metal line amps comes with Drive Amp.The idea behind the drive amp is derived directly from our user base. We had noticed that most users were using a second amp to drive the first. As a result ABG responded by designing an amp specifically for his purpose. It's called the Drive Amp. The drive amp functions as any other amp does, it has a Gain, Level, Bass, Mid, Treble, and Master. It has a set of filters designed specifically for certain "hard to get" distortion/drive characteristics. It is assumed you know what all the standard controls do on an amp so we won't go into them here. What we will go into is describing the Drive Colour settings.Drive Colour Settings
You can select from a pre-determined drive character by selecting a drive color setting. Each setting is unique in how it alters the distortion profile and as a result what it does to the tone and feel of a sound. You determine the amount of Drive Colour to be blended by turning the Drive Colours knob.Red
Is used for warming tone removing low end digital brittleness. Possibly even aids in tube compressions, depending on settings.
Green
Green is all about sustain for solos at high gain, not particularly good for rythm playing.
Blue
Blue is Versatile at low gain, Low to Mid dosage. It's capable of helping achieve Michael Schenker to Billy Gibbons type tones. At high gain, and in small dosage Blue can aid in removing low end rumble.
Cyan
Cyan is particularly good at helping to remove brittleness in the high mid area. At mid gain and low cyan dosage, you can achieve a Judas Priest - 'Breaking The Law' type tone. Cyan was designed for High gain though, it can generate a very unique and interesting tone in low to high dosages.
Magenta
Magenta is a modern thickener in high gain high dosage, your guitar sound will just be a little larger and cannot be achieved through EQ alone. A clean tone and a mid to high dosage reveals a pretty decent starting point for a Jazz tone.
Yellow
Pat Travers, Snortin Whiskey type tone can be achieved by using Yellow with mid gain and in mid dosage. Yellow used at high gain and mid to high dosage, is used to add definition to palm mutted playing. you will notice the string strike better.
