Extreme, progressive and inimitable
‘Titan’, from Keith’s album ‘The Arrival’, is a fantastic display of technical riffing. Equal parts groovy and progressive, Titan proves why Keith is one of the best out there when it comes to unique, heavy riffs.
A true master of heavy riffing, Keith uses 7–string guitars to create amazingly unique and complex compositions. His inimitable, extreme style of playing and composing has led to Keith becoming one of the most inventive and respected extended–range guitar players in the world. Keith’s style of playing and composing mixes the obscure rhythms, tempo shifts, experimental tones and the rarely-used and compound time signatures associated with modern progressive music with the high-tempo and often brutal riffs inspired by the traditional metal that Keith’s playing is rooted in, this makes for sprawling progressive metal compositions that, while not for the faint-hearted or the casual listener, will take those who appreciate them on a whirlwind journey down countless musical and tonal paths.

The word ‘epic’ is thrown around far too much in present time, but it is an appropriate adjective to apply to Keith’s latest album, ‘Awaken the Stone King’. Near-ambient, clean chord progressions; heartfelt, moving and expertly-played solos and complex, brutally heavy riffs all form the basis of this album’s soundscape, not only portraying Keith’s prowess and command of his guitars but capturing and demonstrating his unique approach to composing. The range of styles on display here is impressive. Nowhere near as impressive, however, as the fluidity and effectiveness Keith uses to blend these styles together to forge the engrossing and involving tracks that make Stone King a modern metal masterpiece. With sections reminiscent of artists as diverse as Pink Floyd, Mastodon and SiKTh the album shines out as a unique and progressive breath of fresh air. This is the first album that Keith is charging for and you should most definitely go buy it now!
